Criggion is 12 miles west of Shrewsbury just north of the A458 Welshpool road. The small village of Criggion is signposted off the B4393 about 12 miles west of Shrewsbury. The village is dominated by Breiddon Hill (364 metres high). Rodney's Pillar is named after Admiral Rodney the famous navel commander.
