Dining Pubs in Hayfield
The large village of Hayfield is situated in the Peak District National Park at the foot of Kinder Scout about 6 miles georaphically north of Whalley Bridge. An industrialised village where cotton, paper manufacturing and printing took place. The Church of St Matyhew's dates back to 1386 with the existing church built on in 1818. A legend in Hayfield was that in 1745 hundreds of bodies rose out of their graves to the terror of the onlookers! No doubt they had just left one of the many historic pubs in the area! Hayfield is a place full of local legends and history.
