| The Bridge Inn at Duffield is a large, modernised pub, close to the river. Has a terrace area. Popular place to eat. Worth a visit.

20:21 22/04/10 Ordered cagun salmon. Salmon o.k. - no spice on it at all. salad o.k. potatoes grey and inedible. Must have been warmed up several times to tastle and look this bad. Husband@s fish had probably been warmed up, dry and unappetising. Waitress asked it meal was o.k. (why do they do this). We said no and she laughed. Don't go. |
18:23 13/03/10 Typical chain pub - everything a country pub shouldn't be! 2 for 1 type brake Brothers menu, poor selection of real ale and Dog-unfriendly to boot. Not recommended. Paid £1.85 for a "bowl" of chips which contained about 10!! |
22:01 31/08/09 Reading the recent reviews we were in two minds whether to go, but we chanced it! It was 'okay', but I can empathise with the other reviews. The whole atmosphere is one of weary, begrudging service, but in fairness it feel like a group of young guys and girls have just been left to keep things ticking over. The service is basic at best and rude at worst (plonking down plates and walking away; pitching plastic condiments in with onion rings - where's the hygiene in that??) The furniture is shoddy, flaking tables and dirty, sticky surfaces. Would not go there again or recommend it. |
22:20 01/06/09 on visiting this pub tonight, 1-6-09 for a birthday meal that my sister was treating me to, we ordered our drink and meal straight away, over an hour later it had still not arrived at our table on over hearing other customers complaining they had been waiting over an hour and a half for there food we asked for a refund as we were not willing to wait another hour for food, no problem getting refund and we left, and will not be returning, as the pub was not even busy god knows what its like when it is they cant cope and need a shake up with someone in charge to take control perhaps need to ring gordon ramsey, to sort it. |
07:11 10/04/09 we have been dining here for a number of years with not many issues but the attitude of the assistant manager over a trivial matter was unacceptable we will not be going again,in this day & age with the pub buisnesses struggling you would think their staff would be trained to gain custom not loose it! |
21:49 12/10/08 poor food service and ignorant management would not go again or tell anyone else too |
22:05 12/08/08 We used to go often, but not any more. We sent a ransid looking ploughmans back, only for it to return with the waiter saying that the chef says it wont kill you. Kids food came frozen, twice. Beer ok. Go for a pint, not a meal |
11:37 23/06/08 Visted this public house on Sunday 22nd June 08 and it will certainly be the last ! What an absolute joke ! Food cold, chef forgot to cook 2 meals ! Frozen deserts ..... the list goes on !! Take my advice dont bother !! |
21:31 22/06/08 Went on Sunday 22nd June for an 80th Birthday. The staff were incompitant and the meal took 1 hour + to be served to us, some meals not arriving at all, some being cold. If you have a child take a snack as you dont know how long you got to wait! When we were offered puddings the 80th birthday girl was the last to come out and when i asked for the cake that we had given to catering staff to look after, one lad laughed at me and said he didn't no where it was but he would go and look for it. Not professional at all. When my dinner was served to me, the lad said '1 pasta thing'. What is all that about? He didn't even know what it was. When food was eventually served very nice but service is rediculously slow and embarrasing when taking an elderly lady out for her birthday who hardly leaves the house. Went to the Bridge Inn the week before for fathers day with the service being worse then but it was expectable with such a high volume of people. Very disappointed as we have always had good reports about the place. Please employ some decent staff as thats what is letting it down. |
09:25 07/06/08 Went on Thursday 29/5/08, found the staff constantly chatting amongst themselves around the kitchen area when there was obviously tables to clear. Staff clothing appeared sruffy and covered in food stains. Food was average pub grub, Pedigree was not up to the standard I expect from a Marstons pub it was just drinkable, I think the management has been changed again, when will Marstons leave a manager there long enough to build up the pubs reputation. It is now has a slip of a girl running the pub and from what I saw not very well either. Go there if you must but I will wait for the next change of manager and hope for an improvement! |
20:31 30/04/08 On a sunny day a beautiful location next to the river. However there are at least 3 female members of staff that are scruffy, dirty and with very poor knowledge of health and safety when serving food. I dread to think how my food was prepared before it got to my table. Average food that now has been made worse by a very uninspiring new menu. This pub could be fantastic if it had better staff recruitment and management of those staff, better standards of food hygiene and better food. Left feeling very disappointed and would recommend people do not go there. |
21:17 26/03/08 Incompetent staff with the rudest of manner – even the landlord! The quality of food was nothing short of the worst I have ever been served, overall left very disappointed and hungry. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

23:10 08/04/07 Visited on a lovely bank holiday. Very nice position but sadly terrible pub. Poor quality beer, and very poor food. The roast was probably a Bernard Matthews with everything else frozen vegetables or deep fried (e.g. roast potatioes). They messed up one part of the food orcer, and instead of simply apologising it and rectifying it, I was kept waiting for ten minutes before someone with "authority" could even come and sort it out - while my family and friends were waiting for this. I understand it is under new management but that management isn't doing a very good job at all yet. It needs a complete revamp of staff and objectives. It is in a lovely location and seems a waste. A real shame for a Marstons pub. |
10:30 12/05/06 Excellect pub in a superb setting with great atomosphere and very good service. Definitely worth a visit |
