Dining Pubs in Shardlow

Clock Warehouse, Shardlow

Clock Warehouse

Shardlow
Derbyshire
DE72 2GL
telephone: 01332 792844

The Clock Warehouse at Shardlow is so called as there was once a clock adorning the front of the building. The building built in 1780 now completely refurbished dominates the western basin. There are channels underneath which let barges load and unload easily. This popular pub serves good family food and can get very busy in summer. There is a skittle alley and nearby there is a Heritage Centre. (Note - Postcode corrected 1/04)

We have dined here frequently and enjoyed the food, but not for the last four months. Went last evening for their Christmas menu meal and it was awful. Meat tough. Food not particularly warm and upholstery grubby and decor grubby. Paint/paper peeling off the wall at the waitress service point and entrance to the kitchen. Will not be visiting here again.

Their Christmas dinner on Christmas day was excellent.

Generally good but spoilt by a young member of staff named Kim who was very rude.

A nice place to visit, especially on a sunny day. A good range of food, with a standard menu, and an array of specials. Friendly staff take orders at the table, if it's not too busy. We're now quite frequent visitors. (Their Christmas Day meals are good. They have a function room too!)

Nice food, good service, a pud diner it is so do not expect 5 star service, we have had numerous meals here, no complaints

We went in May 2006 great location but spoilt by the food and the less than warm service.

The childrens meals were served after the adults which unsettled them as they had to wait longer. The desserts weren't all served together and then there was a trio of desserts sent out rather than a platter to share. When we pointed this mistake out to the waitress, she just said "oh!" All together our party spent over £90 and was badly let down by the staff.

Easy to find, this unique pub has a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, inviting diners of all ages. Food choice is fairly varied. Servings are generous and the food itself is of a very high standard. Our meal averaged around £12.50 per head with drinks. Well recommended.

This pub is easy to find on London Road (not the road the location map and postcode indicate) just off the M1 and A50.

Excellent location. I want to go back in the summer for a meal by the waterside and to visit Antiques centre across the road.
