The Three Stag's Head at Wardlow Mires is a restored two roomed stone farmhouse pub, with flagged foors and warm, welcoming fire. The building is a 17th century pub with a pottery in the adjoining barn. Good value food, including game in season. Serves good value real ales and Guinness only. No keg beers or lagers!. Interesting range of seasonal food. Often not open mid-week. Despite being unpretentious - if not unattractive on the outside, this pub is full of character and well worth a visit. Real ales also include Black Lurcher brewed at the pub. Good walks nearby.

I have visited this pub half a dozen
times and always feel that this is how a pub should be.The depressing pseudo/theme pubs
foisted on us by the "brewing" industry have less character than motorway service stations, and no pub is complete without dogs

The pub, landlord and landlady, customers et al are full of character and make for an interesting visit.
