The Old Crown at Old Dalby was once a farmhouse and dates back 300 years. Still retain a lot of old world charm, somewhat rambling inside with lots of nooks and crannies and changes of levels with with several rooms of differing sizes. It nestles in a dip. New owners 2003. Good quality, interesting bar and restaurant food. The starters and main courses are excellent although the sweet menu is somewhat limited. No smoking areas. Separate dining room.. Children aged over 5 lunchtime, evenings aged over 10. Spacious garden. Dogs allowed. Well worth a visit. Real ales.

A great find, the best pub lunch we have had in a very long time. Excellent ambience, imaginative sensibly priced food, good well kept draught beers and very welcoming landlady and staff; vegetarian party member excellently catered for and dog made more than welcome too. What an English country pub should be but sadly so few are. 10/10. GEOFF ROBERTS

Poor service - very slow. Wine glass chipped. Only got as far as the starter which was pate - sloppy and green in colour, didnt taste good. Toast already thickly buttered and shop bought sliced bread.Badly presented. We decided to cut our losses and leave before the main courses arrived!

Excellent food, friendly staff and despite being difficult to find at night, well worth a visit, as the closest decent pub I've found to Leicester. Cosy and comfortable, you may face a bit of a wait for food at busy times, though it is well worth waitin
