This was our second visit within 2 weeks. The first visit resulted in going somewhere else because the Kings head had very little food and tonights visit ended in the worst meal I think I have ever encountered anywhere. Needless to say, we will not bother again!!!!

I was very disappointed by my visit here. I chose butternut squash lasagne from the specials 'menu' with a portion of chips, my husbabd ordered steak. When the food arrived a mushroom lasagne was put in front of me. On enquiring in the kitchen the waitress said that the bar staff had been told about the change (they had run out of butternut squash lasagne) but nobody had bothered to inform me as the customer. As the lasagne was also cold in the middle I sent this back to the kitchen. As the only other vegetarian option was also a pasta dish, which I did not want, I had a bowl of chips and a cup of tea - not what I expected for my meal. There are vegetarian dishes beyond pasta but this pub certainly doesn't have them.

We really enjoyed Sunday lunch at this pub. We did wait a while for our meal, but they were very busy. I would have liked to see more stuffing with my turkey and a pot of cranberry sauce that stayed on the table and not snatched away, but the portions are very generous. My friend's beef wellington from the specials menu was well cooked and tasty with a Madeira flavoured sauce. If I have one criticism I thought that the tiny portion of Christmas pudding did not merit the price and the accompaniment was plain custard not the advertised brandy sauce. Great selection of beers and wines. The cask wine is overpriced. Look what bottles they have on special offer instead. I would definitely recommend this pub for food quality and ambience but they shouldn't let success go to their heads and overcharge unnecessarily. There is plenty of choice on the standard menu to appeal to everyone including families with children who are made welcome with high chairs provided for littlies

Love the cheesy bacon burger. Staff don't like taking cards for payment.

Have been there twice now - the first time the parmesan on my salad was moudly, the 2nd time our order was much delayed.

We have eaten here quite a few times and it has always been delicious and the staff are great. We were there right before Christmas 3 years in a row and it's lovely inside with all the little rooms. i would highly reccommend this place!

The pub was very comfortable, warm, very clean and the staff were friendly and kind with all their customers, we had a late lunch which came quickly and was fantastic. We are hoping to book for Christmas.

It was a very hot and sticky Sunday evening when we called and it seemed like a lot of the young staff had had enough. However, although we had to wait a long time for any food to arrive (over an hour), it seemed reasonable in retrospect as it all arrived freshly cooked and well presented. The sweets were to die for!!!
