Still excellent. Good imaginative food at a reasonable price with an excellent selection of cask beers. Dog friendly in the bargain. Staff and management all go the extra mile. The quintessential English pub. |

Still excellent after all these years, but it does seem funny not ordering your food at the kitchen door! Excellent in all aspects and recommended wholeheartedly. Dog friendly too. |

Stayed in the house next door for a week and ate in The George most nights! great pub nice staff, lovely pub grub and good beer, just what you need after a hike! |

Excellent welcome, service and food, a very friendly place. Super atmosphere, esecially in the bar. Straightforward, excellent good value food. Proper beer too. Dogs welcome as well. Recommended without hesitation. |

I spent a glorious week in Alstonfield walking,drinking and eating, (mostly in The George). The staff were all very friendly, the food and ale plentiful,and the atmosphere cheerful and relaxed. |
